I rarely paint birds, except for owls. But I could not resist painting this little Emu! (I felt the need for a little bit of whimsy.) I had not decided what to name him, and I ended up asking for help on Instagram and Facebook. I had three names in mind:

Since emus live in Australia, I thought I could name him Hugh, after Hugh Jackman. (I think he looks like a Hugh.) Of course, he doesn't resemble Hugh Jackman in the slightest, but that doesn't matter. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He also makes me think a bit of the fictitious bird, Kevin, from the movie, "UP." Kevin ended up being a female bird, and I have no idea if this bird is male or female, so that works. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He/she also makes me think of the Road Runner, from the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote cartoons. Since I am a huge Chuck Jones fan, I thought I could name the Emu, Chuck. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So, after counting the votes, I decided to name him Hugh The Emu!

Hugh is happy to meet you! I hope you like him.
